The goal for this project was to try out a new drivebase design for the 2025 FTC season. Usually, motors have built-in 20:1 planetary gearboxes, which then are connected straight to the wheels with a 1:1 belt. Although the gearboxes are made from special gear steel, they do wear out, have a bit of play and weigh about 200g each or 800g for the entire drivebase! That’s why using direct belt reduction is preferred.
